Exploring Caribbean Roots: A Journey Home |
An American Caribbean family's heartfelt return to their ancestral islands |
Rosamond S. White, born in the vibrant twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, cherishes her maternal heritage from the lush landscapes of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Her academic pursuits led her to earn a BA in History from Marymount College Tarrytown-Fordham University.
Furthering her education, she achieved dual MS degrees: one in Human Resources from the New School of Social Research in New York, and another in Leadership and Negotiation from Bay Path University in Longmeadow, MA.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rosamond finds joy in reading, traveling—especially throughout the Caribbean—and cooking.
Currently, she resides in East Hartford, CT, a community rich in cultural diversity.
East Hartford has become a hub for Caribbean cultural celebrations.
In August 2024, the town hosted its second annual Latin Festival at Alumni Park, featuring live music, traditional foods, and vibrant performances that showcased the rich heritage of the Caribbean community.
Similarly, Hartford's Taste of the Caribbean & Jerk Festival, held annually on the first Saturday in August, offers residents and visitors an immersive experience into Caribbean culture with authentic cuisine, music, and art.
These events not only celebrate the Caribbean roots of many residents but also foster a sense of community and belonging.
